NDIS SERVICE PROVIDERS
With the pandemic still ongoing, the Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme, Stuart Robert announced today that the NDIS has other efforts in the pipeline to ensure Australians with disabilities get the proper care and services needed in a timely manner.
Due to the positive responses received up until now, from the participants of NDIS programs as well as the community in general, the NDIS is looking for bettering its service provisioning methodologies and is on the constant look out for innovative ways to help people with disabilities as well as their caregivers and families.
One of these efforts is the introduction of a new low-cost budgeting scheme. This will allow participants to utilize their existing NDIS plan funds to purchase items and access certain services at a much lower cost than before. Amongst these low-cost items are smart-phones and smart-devices which can enable people with disabilities allowing them to stay in touch with their support resources and professionals all the while maintaining safe distance and isolation requirements?
The list includes but is not limited to:
1- Assistive Technologies for tele-health and tele-practice
2- Higher Intensity Support Equipment
3- Professional Cleaning Services (for Covid-19 positive cases)
The efforts in place now are geared towards people who are either eligible for NDIS services and have not applied, have applied but have yet to receive access or those who may already have access and would like additional help or support. For this purpose, the NDIS contact center is available night and day, not only taking your calls, but also placing calls to the participants who may be facing a higher risk of infection.
